Maybe it’s just me

I’m gonna bitch about TV. Yeah, I know. I watch too much television, and that in itself is a problem, but yet it is my choice to complain.

I don’t mean to sound socialistic or be a proponent for division of wealth, but it seems that the media broadcasts a lot of shows depicting wealth.

Ever seen a series about poor people? Think about it. Oh yeah Grapes of Wrath…Sgt York…and those were made when?

Dallas, Knot’s Landing, and associated shows. Goes without saying: greedy oil barons want more money and power.

Banacek; a George Peppard series in the seventies. Banacek was a wealthy individual that was a PI and lived in a mansion. (I don’t know why that one popped into my head)

Castle; wealthy author who drops a hundred grand on seemingly fruitless efforts.

Bones, about a group of lab rats working with the FBI to solve murders. Many of them are very wealthy and even those who are not, seem to well off.

Barefoot Contessa, a very wealthy Food Network show star depicting Ina Garten and her skills in the kitchen who lives in the Hamptons…yes the Hamptons.

Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond just absolutely kills me. Supposedly, the place where she does her cooking shows, is what’s called “The Lodge” and is on their property; somewhere in northeastern Oklahoma. The Lodge has a bigger kitchen that any place I have every seen. Occasionally, they show their main house which in itself is nothing short of a mansion. A couple of their friend’s homes are larger than theirs. Unbelievable.

Trisha Yearwood’s Trisha’s Southern Kitchen used to be a regular for me until  her husband, Garth Brooks, cancelled concerts when the rioting started in Ferguson. Put a leash on him Trisha, I don’t watch your show any more. Fucking rich liberals.

I miss Paula Deen. So what she used the word ‘nigger’ in her life? What honky hasn’t? I garantee that I’ve been thinking it a lot lately.

Good thing she made her million already.

Diff’rent Strokes; a couple a junior spearchuckers that got picked up and adopted by an old rich cracker.

Webster? again, the same basic scenario. The opposing network’s answer to above mentioned show.

I don’t know why it bothers me so. It just seems like the media portrays all Americans as being rich, when most of us are not.

Good Times? Yeah, that was about po’ folks.

One Day At A Time…OK that was po’ whitey.

Hell, even Leave It To Beaver was upper middle class. Ah, the good old days when mom could stay home.

Cold Justice? That is the second biggest joke of show that I can remember. A couple of old bags open cold cases and chase after bad guys. I wonder how many cases they actually look at before deciding on one. From what I have seen, only one arrest has been made with a conviction after one whole season. I don’t watch it but TNT likes to toot their own horn a lot about that one and Major Crimes…don’t make me laugh.

AMC…remember when they only broadcast movies? back in the eighties and nineties? with no commercials? Science Fiction Channel? I remember when they first started too…no commercials. These two channels are the biggest commercial whores broadcasting today.

I mean why do we have to pay for cable or satellite, when we are bombarded with commercials?

The other night I was watching AMC, and I swear that every ten minutes went to commercial; with commercials included…ten minutes. CMT used to do that and I couldn’t stand it and  never watch that channel any more.

I know, I know; X, if you don’t like it,  switch it. If that’s what you’re thinking you’re missing the point.

The show Ghost Hunters is the second most fucking ridiculous show ever on the air. Those guys are the biggest cowards ever…they can’t even act being afraid.

The new sci-fy channel has turned into nothing short of a circus…a joke. The idiotic programs on that channel; face-off is another.

I considered going to a dish, but it would be the same thing…commercials. Netflix might be an option and shut off all dish activity.

Sounds like a plan, right? I thought so. Cut our cable bill in half, and only fork out like ten bucks a month and have a helluva lot more programming choices.

I told my wife about it and she said without hesitation “what about The Americans?”

So much for that idea. Yeah, we’re hooked on that series…Longmire too. Whatever. Bates Motel also.
